Fernando Alonso has spoken about the potential of his future in F1 ending in the next couple of years, however, speculation around a move to Mercedes has arisen. Alonso was pictured with his manager Flavio Briatore and Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff at a lunch in Monaco. This comes on the heels of the shock announcement pre-season that Lewis Hamilton will be moving to Ferrari for the 2025 season.

F1 will abandon planned switch to 16 inch tyres

The 16 inch tyre rim size has been under consideration by the FIA to reduce the weight of cars in 2026. Pirelli however has opposed this switch due to fiscal marketing impact and ‘practicality’. At a recent FIA and team meeting, the body agreed to stick with 18-inch rims, but instead adjust tyre size and shape.

How Bearman’s drive search could potentially be boosted

Oliver Bearman's impressive debut at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, securing 11th in qualifying and finishing 7th in the race, strengthens his case for a 2025 Formula 1 drive. With limited testing opportunities, Bearman faced immense pressure but excelled under challenging circumstances. While top teams like Ferrari may not immediately sign him, Haas, with a potential vacancy, could be a realistic option. Despite Haas' inclination towards a safe choice for drivers, Bearman's performance suggests he's a less risky option worth considering.
