These are our top suggestions on where to eat, explore and relax when visiting Bologna and Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

From covered markets, to family owned establishments and new takes on classic Emilian cuisine there is something for every palate and price point. These are our favorite places to eat when staying in Bologna ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

For a more casual experience, head to Mercato di Mezzo. This vibrant food market in the historic center of Bologna is a haven for food enthusiasts. Where to Explore

Bologna is located in the center of the Emilia Romagna and is well connected to neighboring cities via an extensive train system. This allows for easy access to nearby towns such as Modena, Parma and more. These are our favorite places to explore when visiting the Emilia Romagna region ahead of the Grand Prix at Imola

Ferrari Museum

Regardless if you are a member of the Tifosi, a visit to the Ferrari museum is a must do if you are in the region. Located just a short drive from Bologna, head to Maranello the home of the Ferrari factory to learn more about the history behind one of the most iconic brands in motorsports. Make sure to stop in Modena to enjoy the Enzo Ferrari museum which showcases iconic cars from the brand's history. No car, no problem - Modena is easily accessible from Bologna via train and the museum offers a shuttle to Maranello.

The best way to understand this region is to taste it - we suggest heading to Parma to learn and experience how these world renowned foodstuffs are produced. Some of the local specialties include Parmesan cheese, Prosciutto di Parma, and traditional balsamic vinegar. Wash it all down with a glass of lambrusco and you will have had a day. There are several tour operators working in the region offering full and half day itineraries. 

Beach Day in Rimini

Head to Rimini to dip your toes into Roman history and the Adriatic sea. Located just a little over an hour by train from Bologna, a trip to this seaside town is a great addition to your race weekend itinerary. Enjoy  sun-soaked beaches or simply stroll through the old town - Rimini's ancient treasures, such as the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge, offer a glimpse into its rich Roman past. Of course, a trip to Rimini is not complete without sampling fresh seafood from one of the many excellent restaurants the city has to offer.  

Where to Go Out

Bologna has been a college town for over a thousand years, so needless to say they have plenty of watering holes located throughout the city. Don’t worry it is not all dive bars and cheap beers, expect to find interesting wine bars, craft cocktails and of course plenty of outdoor seating to take an aperitivo. These are some of our favorite places to grab a drink in Bologna when visiting for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.

Set in a dimly lit space with vintage inspired decor and gold-painted stools, you will be welcome by one of their mixologists who have perfected their craft at some of the best bars in the world. Enjoy one of their seasonally driven signature cocktails or ask for a classic, you will not be disappointed. Open Daily, closed Sunday and Monday

One of the city’s handful of speakeasy-style cocktail bars, access this bar if you know the secret password. Once inside, lounge on velvet chairs and  sip on one of their signature cocktails, many of which have been inspired by Italian spirits, This bar is reservation only, so book in advance to secure that password. Open daily, closed Monday. 

Le Stanze

Le Stanze

Located inside of the 16th century chapel, this bar serves historic elegance. Enjoy a glass of wine or a classic cocktail while you take in the stunning frescos and architecture. If you are looking for a religious experience, we cannot recommend it enough. Open daily, closed Monday.
