The museum is also home to many famous murals, including the works of the famous Mexican muralist Rufino Tamayo. Every Saturday of the month, the museum has a special workshop that allows you to immerse yourself in the traditional Mexican art. You get to paint a small flower pot and learn about papier mâché. Prices fluctuate depending on the day of the week, busy times in the year and sometimes it can be dependent on the boat driver. You can expect that it is usually around $300-500 MXN (~$20-30 USD) for one hour on the boat. Keep in mind that Xochimilco is located an hour away from Mexico City, but there are numerous ways to get there, whether it is with public transportation or by renting a car.
